BONSERNEWS.com – Dozens of people in Dusun Jati, Candirejo, Semanu, Gunung Kidul Regency, Yogyakarta tested positive for anthrax.
According to data from the local district government, there were 87 patients who had been exposed and one resident had died from anthrax.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health stated that the figure was even higher as of Tuesday (4/7/2023), namely that there were 93 cases of residents suspected of being exposed to anthrax and three people had died.

It is suspected that the disease spread because residents consumed the meat of dead livestock.
Even though the livestock had been buried, they dug up the grave again to get the meat.
Head of the Gunungkidul District Livestock and Animal Health Service, Wibawanti Wulandari, said six goats and a cow died in the hamlet.

“Sick, dead and buried according to SOP. However, the community has one dug up again and consumed,” said Wibawanti.
