BONSERNEWS.com – The Gran Caravan aircraft owned by Semuwa Air with flight number PK-SMW was reported to have lost contact on the flight from Elelim to Poik, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains.

The plane disappeared after 14 minutes of flying. AirNav Indonesia Corporate Secretary Rosedi said the plane departed from Elelim Airport to Ilaga Airport at 10.53 WIT.

At 11.07 WIT, it was reported that the plane had lost contact.

“Friday, June 23 2023, it was reported that the PT. Semuwa Aviasi Mandiri (SAM Air) aircraft with registration PK-SMW Type Cessna Grand Caravan C208B, which departed from Elelim Airport to Ilaga Airport 10.53 WIT had lost contact at 11.07 WIT, at coordinates POIK (16 NM south of Elelim Airport),” said Rosedi.

Rosedi said the search for the plane that lost contact was still being carried out today. The search involved the Pilatus Susi Air plane.

“Until this statement was issued, a search was being carried out using the Pilatus Susi Air plane with registration PK-VVK, which departed from Wamena airport at 13.37 WITA,” said Rosedi.

“AirNav Indonesia together with all relevant aviation stakeholders, continues to seek the whereabouts of the PK-SMW aircraft and update conditions on the ground,” he continued.

Previously, it was reported that the Gran Caravan aircraft belonging to Semuwa Air with flight number PK-SMW had lost contact on the flight from Elelim to Poik, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains. The plane was carrying four passengers.

“It is true that the plane carrying four passengers lost contact since 10:00 WIT,” said Head of Airport Operations Unit (UPBU) Elelim Genos Imanuel.
