High Rainfall in Padang Caused More Than 1,000 Residents’ Houses to Be Flooded, Check Out the Reviews


BONSERNEWS.com – Heavy rainfall in Padang City, West Sumatra (West Sumatra) since Thursday night, 13 July 2023.

This heavy rainfall resulted in more than 1,000 residents’ houses being flooded in the Dadok Tunggul Hitam Village, Padang, W Sumatra.

Chairman of the Community Empowerment Institute (LPM) Novrizal said, it had been raining since Thursday evening, July 13, 2023.

This flood event began to inundate more than 1,000 residents’ houses on Friday, July 14, 2023 at around 03.00 WIB.

Novrizal said that the flood inundated residents’ houses in nine community units (RW) in Dadok Tunggul Hitam Village with 1,500 residents.

“Many residents fled and were evacuated from their homes, because the stagnant water in the house was more than one meter,” he said.

Novrizal said, currently the flood-affected residents need assistance in the form of food, drink, and clothing to prepare for tonight.

“Floods inundated the houses and the items in them, so residents could not cook for tonight,” he said.

One of the residents affected by the flood, Nursamsuami (49) said that he and his family were forced to flee because the house they lived in was inundated with up to two meters of water.

“The puddle of water in my house was almost two meters. Before being evacuated by officers, I had to climb onto a table so I wouldn’t drown,” he said.

Novrizal said, currently the flood-affected residents need assistance in the form of food, drink, and clothing to prepare for tonight.

“Floods inundated the houses and the items in them, so residents could not cook for tonight,” he said.
